Irish rock band, U2, is set to release their fourteenth studio album “Songs of Experience”, a companion to the 2014 “Songs of Innocence.”

Five songs have already been released from the album, with the fifth “American Soul” released last Friday. Hardcore fans are counting down the days to December 1 so they can listen from start to finish.

The album was originally slated for a 2016 release, but due to the current political climate in the U.S., the band reevaluated the album and took a step back to examine what was happening in the White House.

The first song was performed during the 30-Year Anniversary of The Joshua Tree tour.  “The Little Things That Give You Away” was used to close  the concert on the first leg of the U.S tour.  A slow, ballad-like performance by lead guitarist “The Edge” gave fans the first taste of what is to come.

The first single from the album,“You’re the Best Thing About Me”, was released in early September. The single is a throwback pop song of the 1960s with a modern twist. To date, there are three versions of the song to be released: the single version, an acoustic version and an electronic dance mix with producer, Kygo.

On Nov. 1, the Pre-Order for “Songs of Experience” hit most streaming services and features two new song releases: the first being “The Blackout” and the other “Get Out of Your Way”. Both tracks take stabs at President Trump in the case of “The Blackout” and refer to him as “Big Mouth”.

With the release of the album a few weeks away, fans are also awaiting the official tour, “The “Experience + Innocence Tour 2018”.  The first leg of the U.S. tour kicks off in Tulsa on May 9 and ends in New Jersey on June 29.   The Los Angeles stop for the band will happen on May 15 at The Forum.

As nine tracks still remain unheard by fans and a U.S. tour set to get underway, it is an exciting time for both the band and fans.
