Eagle Nest introduces the university’s young athletes to the Cal State LA community.
Jacob Solek
Solek is a 5’5” freshman forward for the defending National Champions Golden Eagles Men’s Soccer team. He is from Wildomar, California, and attended high school at Baker Web Academy in Oregon. Jacob is a business major and says that scoring a game-winning goal in an MLS Next Tournament is his favorite sports memory.
Arielle Chandler
Chandler is a 5’9” freshman setter for the Golden Eagles women’s volleyball team. She attended high school at Manteca High, where she won team Most Valuable Player twice, first-team all-league, and All-Area setter. This year for the Golden Eagles, Arielle has a game-high of seven assists and three digs against Chico State.
Yocelyn Marquez
Marquez is a 5’3” freshman midfielder for the Golden Eagles women’s soccer team. She has been with the team since the 2020 season but has yet to compete with the team due to Covid. She earned California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors that year as well. Yocelyn is a first-generation college student in her family and volunteers at Huntington Hospital.
