For a lot of students, this is their first year or semester taking in person classes at Cal State LA. Many are not familiar with the different offices or which services each one offers. 

No fear. The University Times is here to offer a list of services along with a description and the hours of operation. 

The UT produced a similar story regarding the hours of operation and available services while students were virtual, but now that students are back on campus, many of the services are offering in-person options as well. 

Admissions

The Admissions office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students can receive help here with any concerns regarding how to apply or transfer. The staff can assist students with questions regarding tuition and the application process to become a Golden Eagle. Students can also request copies of their records at the office. It is located in the Student Services Building on the first floor. 

Financial Aid/Scholarships

The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office is open for in-person walk-ins. Students can also still submit documents online. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located inside the Student Services building in room 2330. The office can assist students with different concerns about how to apply for financial aid, scholarships and loans. Students can also meet with financial advisors. 

Student Health Center

The Student Health Center is available for students by appointment only. The office’s hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located in the main walkway between the Career Development Center and the Wallis Annenberg Integrated Sciences Complex. Some of the services provided by the Health Center are: chiropractic, counseling, psychological services, CPR training, family planning, emergency contraception, immunizations, and psychiatric services. Students are required to call ahead of time to make an appointment. 

Office for Students with Disabilities

The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) has returned to some in-person services while still offering services virtually. The office is located inside the Student Services Building in room 1320. Its hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Dreamers Resource Center

The Erika J. Glazer Dreamers Resource Center supports undocumented students through a number of programs and services aimed at ensuring their academic, emotional and personal well-being. The office is located in the Student Services Building on the fourth floor. It offers a study space, computers, printing and referrals. Its hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Student Union

The University Student Union (USU) and the recreation center are still open and available for students.  The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Students can enter the gym and work out while staying safe by following the COVID-19 protocols. Other departments located in the USU are the Center for Student Involvement, Cross Cultural Centers, Graffix, and recreation.   

Career Center

The Career Center is now offering in-person services Monday through Thursday from 2-3 p.m.  The office is also offering virtual services both in the mornings and in the evenings. Tuesday and Wednesday Zoom meetings are held from 5-6 p.m. Thursday and Friday Zoom meetings are held from 10-11 a.m. Students must register for a Zoom meeting with a career advisor. 

The Career Center offers assistance in exploring career paths, resumes, cover letters and interviewing skills. They also help with finding internships and job opportunities on or off-campus. 

Food Pantry

The food pantry is now open again as of Feb. 15. Students are required to sign-up a week in advance. The sign-up forms are available every week starting from 9 a.m. on Mondays until 2 p.m. on Thursdays or once it has reached 200 sign-ups. Students must be currently enrolled in classes to sign up online.

Students can then schedule a pickup time to get their food pantry bag at the Student Union on the third floor. Pickups are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

Academic Advising

Academic Advising is also still available virtually for students on Zoom. Students can join their drop-in hours or make an appointment to meet with an advisor. The spring drop in Zoom rooms are labeled by each of the different colleges. Therefore, business hours may differ based on each college. 

Bookstore

The Cal State LA Bookstore is open for all students and staff. Its hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The bookstore is closed Saturdays and Sundays. 

The library is open for students to use for studying or to print out assignments. Its hours have changed now that in-person learning has resumed. It is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays. 

ITS Help Desk

The ITS Help Desk is located inside the library at the Palmer Wing Lobby. Its hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for in-person assistance.

It is closed Saturdays and Sundays. However, it does offer 24/7 assistance over the phone in case students are experiencing technical difficulties. The phone number is (323) 343-6170. 

Food Court/Options

Students can find El Pollo Loco open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Carl’s Jr. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Spot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are also other options such as Sbarro, which is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Students are not allowed to eat inside the food court at this time. 

Starbucks is also open for students next to the USU. Its hours are Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is closed Saturdays and Sundays. 

Other places on campus where students can find some refreshments or grab something to eat are Every Table and Cafe 47, which are both located inside the library.

Every Table is located in University Library North and inside Salazar Hall and is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside the library. In Salazar Hall, it is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.   

Cafe 47 is now open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are closed Saturdays and Sundays. 

Last but not least, RAW Juice Bar is also open for students. Its hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
