“This Land” is a story of over 150 years, and covers four families with ancestry in different parts of the world. Across their stories, they try to find a place to call home in one plot located in Southern California, known as Watts. Throughout the play, four different stories are told one after another, and find ways to connect with one another. Their stories and journeys intertwine through blessings, curses, food, love, and betrayals. This story connects families from the 19th century all the way to the 21st century. Each generation of families goes through the highs and lows, and asks themselves the question of “Should I stay or Should I Go?” In a celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the production showed the connection between family, culture, tradition, and history.
